Trekking to Everest base camp on a value package

This trek is an opportunity to tick the item at the top of your ‘To Do List’. Amidst the friendly and helpful company of expert locals, you’ll be guided on an unparalleled journey of thrills and spiritual heights as you experience Tibetan culture and Buddhist religion en route to a breathtaking close-up view of mighty Mt. Everest.

The fame of the Everest region is enduring. The area is home to four of the world’s six tallest peaks: Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. Rising tall above everything else, these geological princes crown the towering ridges that straddle the awesome Himalayas. The region is a UNESCO-listed natural world heritage site (Sagarmatha National Park) that, apart from hosting a variety of Himalayan flora and fauna, lays claim to the histories of world-famous climbers, the Sherpas and their Tibetan lifestyle, and age-old Buddhist traditions.

This trek will take you to Kala Patthar at an altitude of 5545 metres which provides an amazing view of Mt Everest, bringing you breathtaking close to the spirit of this mountain legend. The adventure trek to Everest Base Camp is mostly on good trails; the last day will be spent trekking on moraine (glacial debris). The trail we will follow is actually a historical trade route between Tibet and Nepal. Every hour of every day on the trek is interesting as we encounter pine and fir forests, glacial rivers, stony trails, mountains and Buddhist monasteries with the views of Everest and other mighty mountains growing more spectacular every day. One of the famous landmarks on the way to Everest Base Camp is the incredible monastery at Thyangboche which is wonderfully set against the backdrop of Ama Dablam, Everest and other snow-capped peaks.

You can expect to trek for a minimum of 4 to 5 (and sometimes up to 6 or 7) hours each day, so some days will be more challenging than others, depending on the altitude gain. Overall, the altitude gain is gradual, unlike on steep climbs that characterize other treks in Nepal. This trek is therefore suitable for reasonably fit walkers. We will stay in lodges for the whole route.

The trek to the Everest Base Camp has been carefully designed to allow enough time to acclimatise. We will stay at the same place for two nights twice during the trek for acclimatisation. Our experienced group leader and Sherpa guides will make your safety and enjoyment top priorities. You will be able to enjoy the Sherpa village, culture and monasteries throughout both acclimatisation periods.

We will also organise a free pre-departure information session for groups which covers all important aspects of the journey and provides a forum for answering all of your questions.

In Kathmandu

In the evening on the day of arrival, when the tour guide meets and greets you, he will facilitate a group dinner if there is an interest among the travellers for a traditional culinary experience (on your own expenses).

On The Trek

On your unforgettable trek, you will receive continual support from a highly experienced crew, which includes a licenced and seasoned English-speaking trekking guide, porter and Sherpa (for large groups). The trekking guide has first aid along with other relevant training, and understands high altitude sickness and its management.

All our guides are friendly and caring. They will go beyond the call of duty to ensure your continual safety and comfort. For example, they will check (where possible) with the lodge owners to ensure that your rooms throughout the trek are well set. They will advise you on how to stay hygienic on the trek and will help you with meal selection. If the crew is aware that someone in the group has a birthday, they may surprise everyone by organising (where possible) a birthday cake.

With us, all you will need to carry is a day pack to store your personal items (e.g. hat, sunscreen, chocolate and energy bars, etc).  The rest will be carried by a porter. All accommodation on this busy trail will be organized by us in advance. Meals are available at each lodge. Your guide will help you to place meal orders and will ensure that you are looked after. All you will need do each evening is kick back and relax at the lodge so that you will have a fresh start the next day.

So, get ready for a wondrous alpine journey which has been nothing short of a life-changing experience for so many.
