Leh to Markha Valley, Ladakh – A photographic tour

Trek with our local expert, also a passionate and professional photographer, to one of the most beautiful and varied regions in the world, comprised of multiple mountain ranges and a culture unchanged.

Summit of the world, Ladakh, India is truly the Himalayas’ last unspoiled region. Unlike its neighbouring regions, Ladakh has a long history of peace and prosperity. Culturally and physically, it can be considered an extension of Buddhist Tibet. Central to its beauty and one-off ambience is that it did not suffer the devastation of the Cultural Revolution. Its monasteries, temples, villages and customs remain intact, and they await – and invite – our exploration.

Ladakh lies at the western end of the Himalayas and is comprised of four mountain ranges – the Great Himalaya, the Zanskar Range, the Ladakh Range and the Karakoram Range. It is a maze of enormous snow-capped peaks and is home to the largest glacier outside of the polar regions, the Siachen. Valley heights range between 2,500 and 4,500 metres above sea level, while the neighbouring summits rise above 7,500 metres.

We will begin our thirteen-day adventure with a discovery of the culture and heritage of Delhi. Then, in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, we will enjoy the finest accommodation along with a vibrant, bustling village featuring fascinating bazaars, temples and shrines. While on the trek proper, we will enjoy five-star camping with the best (new) Marmot outdoor equipment at our disposal. The trek is supported by a large group of ground staff and ponies. Our guides will attend to your every need on and off the trail. Our itinerary allows for appropriate acclimatization before ascending to the higher reaches of this magical land. The sumptuous cuisine offered on the trek is only one of many highlights, with expert local chefs using only the finest local produce.
