Day 10 Fly out to Kathmandu early morning.

Description:       This is the shortest possible itinerary in operation from some of the Nepal based companies for tourists. The cut in number of days means cost comes down on the trek. Also, this itinerary may grab attention of trekkers who are pressed of time, however, is very ambitious and Sherpa Tours Australia would not recommend this. Please keep reading to know why.

Where does it compromise?

The negative is that this is fast paced and may not be for everybody. It completely omits two  acclimatisation days, one at Namche and other at Dinboche compared to standard itinerary from Sherpa Tours Australia. Trekkers need to take extreme pre-causion when committing to such a short itinerary to the base camp. The risk includes falling victim of high altitude sickness which can become deadly within a very quickly.

Another factor is about unpredictable weather condition in Everest region which causes cancellation of Everest flights. If this happens, tourists have to wait until next day to try luck again. This applies for flights both outbound and inbound from/to Lukla.

2.      11 to 12 days Lukla to Luka Everest base camp trek itinerary

Note:

You will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla this day in the morning to start the trek.

Day 2 Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,280 ft): 5 to 6 hrs;10 km
Day 3 Namche Bazzar rest day for acclimatisation.
Day 4 Namche Bazzar – Tengboche (3,870m/12,694ft): 5 to 6 hrs; 10 km
Day 5 Tengboche – Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft): 5 to 6 hrs; 8km

Day 7 Dingboche – Lobuche (4,940 /16,207ft): 4 to 5 hrs; 7 km

Note: Next day morning, you will fly out of Lukla to Kathmandu. Scheudled flights only operate in the morning subject to weather condition.

Day 12 Fly out to Kathmandu early morning.

This itinerary is doable because it considers all acclimatisation rules and cuts a day short while coming down from Pheriche. Sherpa Tours Australia operates this itinerary as well as more relaxed itinerary adding one more day on trek and if considering itinerary from Kathmandu to Kathmandu, then we would have one contingency day in Kathmandu both before outbound and after inbound from/to Kathmandu. This covers for a day’s flight delay if occurs on any side, inbound or outbound while these contingency days can be used for rest or self-exploration should there be no flight cancellation. This is more practical we believe.

Again, the reason to follow this itinerary rather than more relaxed 12 to 13 days is when travellers are pressed of time or budget and feel that their health and fitness are at a good level.

5       23 days Lukla to Luka Everest circuit trek including base camp and Gokyo lakes

Gokyo Lakes trek in Everest region is NOT TO MISS if you can spare extra few days and several hundrend dollars. The view of the whole mountain range in the region is seen much much better from a ridge in Gokyo area than from Kalapattar or Everest base camp.
