Sherpa Tours Australia is working with Nepalese Consulate Office in Melbourne to assist in organising an event to provide an update to Australian Travel Agents and media about the Tourism in Nepal post earthquake. The event will provide update on trail conditions in post-earthquake Nepal.


Nepal Now, a tourism promotion event by Nepal Tourism

12 August 2015 – The Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation (Nepal) and the Nepal Tourism Board are holding a Nepal Tourism promotion in Australia. Titled Nepal Now, this is a joint exercise, in association with the Nepal Embassy in Australia and the Nepal Consulate, Melbourne.

Scheduled to be held in Melbourne on Tuesday 18 August 2015 and in Sydney on Thursday 20 August 2015, this will see the active participation of the Nepal Tourism Secretary, Suresh Man Shrestha, Joint Secretary-Tourism and the Chairman, Nepal Tourism Board, the Embassy Officials and the Honorary Consul General of Nepal to Victoria and many others.

Aimed at the revival of Tourism in Nepal, the key highlights of this event are post-earthquake destination presentation, update on latest tourism scenario, networking and sharing of ideas to support Nepal. With key speakers, presentations, cultural performances and an interactive session followed by Cocktails and Dinner, this strictly by invite program targets the travel agents, tour operators, Nepal connecting airlines, travel writers, Media and friends of Nepal.

With attractive door prizes such as raffles, flight tickets to Kathmandu and free accommodation packages, this event aims to promote and boost Nepal’s Tourism industry, a major foreign exchange earner, and to provide an impetus to many livelihoods linked with this industry.

Social Media Campaign Launched to promote Nepal in Australia

Unparallel natural and cultural beauty of Nepal was showcased at Hilton on the Park, Melbourne on 26th June 2014, amidst Travel trades and media representatives in Victoria.

The event, Nepal Promotion Forum 2014, was organised by Consulate of Nepal in Victoria in association with the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra. The Cocktail Reception was organised to showcase Nepal and highlight the incredible diversity of Nepal as a destination for holiday makers and adventure seekers.

The highlight of event was a successful launching of ‘The Enjoy Nepal Campaign’ to educate and inform the Australian travelling community of all Nepal has to offer. While launching the campaign, Linda Reed-Enever who is a Publicist and Marketing Consultant, explained the power of # tag in social media and rolled out #enjoynepal at the event by taking photos and posting instantly across major social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Pramod Khatiwada, coordinator of the event and founder & tour manager of Sherpa Tours, worked closely with The Consulate and Embassy to arrange an amazing line up of speakers and presentations to highlight Nepal including Author and Extreme Performance Guru, MARK SQUIRREL, Doug Grant, owner of Tennistrekking and Linda Reed-Enever.

In order to increase awareness of Nepal in Australia, Pramod Khatiwada showed commitment to organise famil trips in 2014/2015 for interested media and travel agents. He also committed to providing training and other necessary support to those travel agents who want to promote Nepal in Australia.

In the event the Honorary Bruce Atkinson MLC, the President of the Legislative Council said “Besides Mt. Everest and the Himalayan ranges Nepal has much more to offer including different climates; extraordinary wildlife; unbelievable cultural heritage; and exotic food”. He added “especially Australians are the adventure tourists of the world and if you are an environmentalist or adventure tourist you ought to add Nepal to the top of your bucket list.”
The event showcased Nepal for all it has to offer from the Himalayas and wilderness in the plains- hosting an array of wildlife, to the indigenous traditions and lifestyles that reverberate through the pulse of the cities and villages, providing a spectacular display of the arts, history, costumes and dance.

In the forum Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Rajendra Pandey and Mr. Chandra Yonzon Honorary Consul General of Nepal to Victoria gave away the first prize of two return tickets and a tour package of Nepal to Lucky Draw winner Sue Doguluer, Travel Consultant of Metro Travel Services. The tour package is sponsored by Sherpa Tour (Aust) Pty Ltd. The tour comprises of eight days of sightseeing of heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and scenic day tour of Lake city Pokhara.

With roughly 18,000 Australians having visited Nepal in 2013 the community is keen to highlight all that Nepal has to offer making it a bucket list location for every traveller.
